So many of these books are on my list, too! I'm currently on a Jane Austen kick, which is really just too much fun. I love Sally Clarkson's books (and her podcast even more), although I have never read through "The Lifegiving Home" either. I prefer to reference it according to the needs of the moment. Her two muffin recipes are in constant circulation in my home! I love your paradigm of the five categories--it encourages intentionality!
That’s how I’ve mostly used The Life-giving Home too…maybe it’s better not to try to read it straight through! I’m really excited about the 5 categories too, I think it’s an interesting challenge to hone my reading a little more. Oh, a Jane Austen kick sounds lovely! Her books are good comfort reads for me, I find myself reaching for them when I’m going through an overwhelmed period! I just re-read Mansfield Park last year, and it moved up my list of favorites!
After a visit to the UK back in the 90s, my uncle gifted me a copy of "Mansfield Park". I was an avid reader, but only about ten years old. I eagerly dove in, but, after a chapter or two, I realized I had no idea what was going on! I have since read it several times, and I love it dearly. Fanny's gentleness, insightfulness, and real sensibility effectively win the day. It is a fascinating commentary on education, is it not?
Some great book recommendations! Currently on my quest to read 25 great books in 2025! So far I’ve really enjoyed The Comfort of Crows and The Great Alone.
What a motivating post to read more! I’m so impressed you get to read this many books. I have about 7 books next to my couch that I read according to my mood. That means it takes me forever to finish any of them. Help!
I’m currently reading For The Family’s Sake and Pride and Prejudice. Anything by Sally Clarkson is encouraging. Her books are great listens while I wash the dishes or go for walks.
Oh my goodness, help me too! I have at least ten books going right now. 😂 It really starts to feel like a problem, but I guess in a way we’re just following in the Charlotte Mason tradition with a wide variety of short readings, right? I’m reading For The Family’s Sake too! Slowly, but I’ll get through it eventually!

Yes! I really appreciated Fanny’s character as well, and how she is steady throughout. ❤️

I like to think of the book options as a menu to choose from😆
Slowly making my way through For the Family’s Sake. As they say in Italy, piano piano
